A small guest house that runs on its own water, its own power and its own garden.
We are a family-run guest house in a Johannesburg garden, so looking after water, power and waste is not a marketing exercise — it is how the place keeps running through load-shedding and dry Highveld winters.
Energy
- LED lighting throughout the rooms, passages and garden
- Full backup power so generators and inverters run only when the grid fails
- Geyser blankets and timers on hot-water systems
- Gas hob in the kitchen to cut peak electricity use
- Solar water heating
Water
- Stored water on site so the property stays running through municipal outages
- Rainwater capture for garden irrigation
- Indigenous, water-wise planting in the garden beds
- Low-flow shower heads and dual-flush cisterns
- Linen and towels changed on request, not by default, for stays of more than one night
Waste & cleaning
- Paper, glass, plastic and tin separated for recycling
- Organic kitchen waste composted for the garden
- Bulk toiletry dispensers instead of single-use miniatures
- Low-phosphate, biodegradable laundry and cleaning products
- Fresh food bought locally and prepared in our own kitchen, which keeps food waste low
People & community
- Permanently employed local staff, most of whom have been with us for years
- Local suppliers, greengrocers and butchers in Rivonia and Sandton
- Guests directed to nearby restaurants and businesses within walking distance

How guests can help
We only publish what we actually do. If a measure matters to your company's travel policy and it is not listed here, ask us and we will answer honestly.
- Reuse your towels — hang them up and we will leave them.
- Switch off lights, aircon and the heater when you leave the room.
- Use the recycling bin in the kitchen area of your apartment.
- Tell us if a tap drips or a light stays on — we will fix it the same day.
